New Hair Gel Anonymous!
March 17th, 2010I’m really happy with the job Mia is doing on Hair Gel Anonymous and just wish that we had more comics for the masses as it’s the slowest comic to update. With that said, today we have an all new episode! So read it, damn it!
So I’m a few days into Final Fantasy, work has gotten in the way a little so it hasn’t been constant playing but I feel I’m pretty far into the game. I’ve got to say that this one is definitely not a big winner as it’s missing several things, blaxsploitation not being one of them (looking at you Sazh).
The main problem I’d say is the battle system, which at first seems like an interesting twist on FFVI’s system (mainly the wait bar) though you’ll quickly find it much more flat. You have a party of three people but you only control one and you’ll spend most of your battles pressing the “Auto Fight” button which makes battles almost all automated which I’m sure they’ll perfect next go around; it only took 14 Final Fantasys but we’ll finally have a FF that plays itself.
The other problem is the story which, and I feel like I’m about half way through, is very slow and not enthralling at all. It does take some interesting story approaches not really taken before in that it follows different parties at different times and developes a lot of the story through flashbacks. The concept itself is pretty unique and I’m not going to get into it here but unfortunately it’s adding up to a pretty boring adventure. I certainly wouldn’t say it’s as bad as THESE people say it is but I wouldn’t spend the 60 bucks on it again if I didn’t have some obsessive need to play all Final Fantasy games.
Anyways, that’s enough for now, I’ll let you know if it gets any better.
